Finding the perfect fire for your marble fireplace

Marble fireplaces are best suited for gas fires and electric fires rather than a more traditional wood burning stove. Many of our marble designs feature downlights to call attention to more intricate fire designs – the overall impact can be very striking.

Caring for a marble fireplace

Marble has been used for thousands of years to create both beautiful works of art and striking furniture and features for the home. We still use it today because it creates an impact, and is clearly built to last.

However, they do require some care to keep them at their best. As a slightly porous material, marble can stain – but it is very easy to clean. Simply use a soft cloth to remove dust and dirt, and a microfibre cloth dampened with warm, distilled water to gently remove any stains.

Alternatives to marble

Marble’s closest equivalent is limestone – the materials are very similar, and you’ll be able to find many styles that are available in both. However, limestone tends to give a softer, more natural feel than marble’s ornate formality. Take a look at our full range of limestone fireplaces.
